Salary: USD 30-35,000 Location: Chicago, IL (in person / hybrid) Part-time
Klett World Languages is a growing educational publisher with European roots. We are the Chicago-based US arm of the Klett Group, which was founded in 1897 and encompasses 80+ educational enterprises. Our mission is to help students learn world languages they can use in real-life situations. We do it by creating engaging and meaningful content that sparks their curiosity and motivates them to learn. The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for various human resources functions. Responsibilities will include administrative tasks, recruiting and onboarding, benefits administration, and monitoring compliance with state and federal labor law.

Job Summary
The HR specialist will be in charge of helping and assisting with all day-to-day HR operations and duties as well as handling personnel-related administrative tasks.
They will act as a liaison between the company’s administration and employees, ensuring a smooth communication and prompt resolution of all queries. They will be responsible for keeping the HR department organized so that the company can recruit and retain talent.
Responsibilities
Recruitment
- Manage the recruitment process according to the company growth strategy.
- Maintain communications with partners at recruitment agencies.
- Oversee onboarding of new employees.
Training and Development
- Assist team managers with preparation of training plans for new employees.
- Foster constructive relationships between employees and promote employee satisfaction.
- Assist with the implementation of professional development and team building activities.
Administration
- Prepare and update employment records related to new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations
- Explain HR-related policies, procedures, laws and standards to employees.
- Update and create job descriptions in coordination with team managers.
- Monitor day to day labor law compliance.
- Develop and implement health and safety programs and measures.
- Assist with the company’s policies and procedures development.
- Regularly report HR data to the Board of Directors.
Required skills and experience
- At least a bachelor’s degree.
- Close knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- High working proficiency in Spanish.
- Advanced computer skills in MS office (Excel and HR softwares preferably)
- 3+ years of experience in an HR or administrative position.
- Formal education in business preferred.
- Financial competence preferred.
- Attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
